Liz Johansen is a Senior Research Engineer at 3M, and participates in corporate research and development with a focus on multilayer films for various functions, including oral care, solar energy, and safety purposes. She received her PhD from Cornell University in 2013 from the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology.

She pursued a postdoctoral position at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Department of Chemical Engineering for two years and then worked for the Center for Naval Analysis before moving back to Minnesota and beginning her career at 3M. Liz grew up in Wisconsin but attended college in Minnesota. In 2017, she and her husband, Aaron, moved back to Minnesota, where they are currently raising two daughters.
